What If My Tallow Balm Melts in Transit?

Because our products are made with natural ingredients and contain no synthetic stabilizers, they may soften or melt during hot summer weather or while traveling through warm delivery trucks and mailboxes.
The good news? Your product is still perfectly safe and effective to use.

Why Does Tallow Melt?
Grass-fed tallow naturally softens around body temperature and can melt when exposed to prolonged heat. This is one of the reasons it feels so nourishing and skin-compatible.
Unlike conventional lotions that rely on synthetic ingredients to maintain texture, our products are crafted with simple, natural ingredients that respond to temperature changes.
Will Melting Damage My Product?
No.
If your balm or lotion arrives melted, the beneficial ingredients remain unchanged. The moisturizing properties, vitamins, and skin-loving fatty acids are still fully intact.
The only thing that may change is the texture.
Whipped products may lose some of their fluffy consistency and become smoother or denser once they cool.
How to Restore Your Balm
If your product arrives melted:
Place the container upright.
Remove the lid.
Allow it to cool at room temperature, or refrigerate for 30–60 minutes.
Once solidified, replace the lid and use as normal.
Your balm will still provide the same nourishing skincare benefits.
Want the Whipped Texture Back?
If your whipped tallow balm melts completely during transit, it may cool into a smooth, dense balm rather than its original fluffy texture. The balm is still perfectly usable, but if you'd like to restore the whipped consistency, follow these steps:
Fill a small pot with a few inches of water and bring it to a gentle simmer.
Place the jar of balm into the warm water until the tallow has completely melted.
Carefully remove the jar from the water and pour the melted balm into a mixing bowl.
Allow the balm to cool until it becomes opaque and begins to solidify around the edges. You want it soft and creamy, not fully hardened.
Using a hand mixer, whip the balm until it becomes light and fluffy.
Spoon the whipped balm into a zip-top bag and seal it.
Cut a small corner from the bag and pipe the whipped balm back into the jar.
Allow the balm to fully set before replacing the lid.
Tip:Â If the balm becomes too firm before whipping, gently remelt it and allow it to cool again until it reaches a soft, pudding-like consistency. This creates the best whipped texture.
A Note About Whipped Tallow
Our whipped balms are especially sensitive to heat because air is incorporated during whipping.
If a whipped balm melts completely, it may settle into a smoother texture when cooled. While it may no longer appear whipped, its quality and effectiveness remain the same.
In fact, many customers continue to use their balm exactly as is after it cools, enjoying the same skin-loving benefits.
Traveling With Your Tallow
To help prevent melting:
• Store below 80°F whenever possible.
• Avoid leaving products in hot vehicles.
• Keep out of direct sunlight.
• During travel, store in a cooler bag if temperatures are extremely high.
