Your Skin Changes With the Seasons. Your Skincare Should Too.

It may still be 85 degrees outside.
But your skin knows fall is coming.
August is the month when we start dreaming about apples, sweaters, cool mornings, and changing leaves—even while we're still running the air conditioner.
It's also a surprisingly good time to start transitioning your skincare routine.
Because your skin changes with the season, waiting until it's already dry, tight, and flaky isn't your only option.
Summer and Fall Ask Different Things From Your Skin
During summer, we're dealing with heat, humidity, sweat, sunscreen, swimming, and lots of time outdoors.
Then fall arrives.
The air becomes cooler.
Humidity starts dropping.
We turn on the heat.
Hot showers become more tempting.
Suddenly that lightweight summer skincare routine may not feel like enough.
This is why we like to make the transition gradually.
Step One: Don't Abandon Hydration
One mistake people make when their skin gets dry is reaching only for heavier oils and balms.
Those are wonderful—but remember that dry skin can benefit from both hydration and ingredients that help reduce moisture loss.
This is where layering can be incredibly simple.
After bathing, apply lotion to slightly damp skin.
If you have particularly dry areas—hands, elbows, knees, heels—follow with a tiny amount of tallow balm.
You don't need to coat yourself in it.
With tallow, less really is more.
Step Two: Give Your Hands Extra Attention
Hands often show seasonal dryness first.
Think about everything they go through in a day:
Handwashing.
Cleansing sprays.
Dishes.
Cleaning.
Outdoor work.
Weather.
By fall, they can start feeling the effects.
Keep lotion somewhere you'll actually use it.
Beside the sink.
On your desk.
In your bag.
Beside your bed.
The best skincare routine isn't necessarily the fanciest one.
It's the one you'll actually follow.
Step Three: Create a Two-Minute Evening Routine
You don't need 12 products.
Try this instead:
Gently cleanse your face.
Apply your favorite facial moisturizer or tallow product.
Moisturize your hands and body where needed.
Apply lip balm.
Done.
Two minutes.
Consistency will usually serve you better than an elaborate routine you only manage twice a week.
Step Four: Make Skincare Feel Like Something You Look Forward To
This is one of our favorite parts about seasonal skincare.
Scent can turn an ordinary routine into a little ritual.
The smell of apples can remind you of an orchard.
Vanilla can feel warm and comforting.
Lavender can signal that the day is winding down.
That's the inspiration behind our seasonal collections.
Our Apple Harvest Collection was created to capture that first hint of fall—the feeling of crisp apples, orchard days, and cozy traditions waiting just around the corner.
But the scent is the experience.
The tallow is still doing the important work.
Rich, simple nourishment for skin heading into a drier season.
Remember Skin Changes With the Seasons, so Don't Wait for Dry Skin Season
Fall skincare doesn't have to begin when the calendar officially says fall.
Pay attention to your skin instead.
If it begins feeling tighter after bathing…
If your hands need lotion more frequently…
If your summer moisturizer isn't lasting as long…
Your skin may already be telling you it's time.
Start adding richer moisture gradually now.
By the time those first truly crisp mornings arrive, your routine will already be ready.
And if it happens to smell a little like an apple orchard?
We think that's a pretty lovely way to welcome fall.
